The Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC)

The Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) has achieved an innovation milestone with its 2,500th U.S. patent.

Push the boundaries of materials innovation
Established in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga, Ontario, in 1974, the XRCC has Xerox․ global mandate for materials innovations. This laboratory continues to help push the boundaries of advanced materials science in Canada. Beyond the work to advance our own technologies and help our clients solve their business challenges, the XRCC actively helps Canadian start-ups commercialize their ideas.

To that end, the XRCC team established an Innovation Hub that enables startups to use their seed funding to develop technologies, rather than spending it on capital expenses. We offer our expertise and infrastructure to these external clients on a fee- for-service basis, and we have formed partnerships with like-minded organizations that have co-located at the XRCC to support Canada․s start-up community.

The Xerox TeleWeb Call Centres

The Xerox TeleWeb Call Centres handle inbound service requests, 2nd level analyst support and Inside Web and Tele Sales functions for Xerox across North America.

Xerox has based an integral operations centre right in the heart of Canada. For the thousands of Nova Scotians that Xerox employs – the Centre represents the great optimism and opportunity throughout Canada. Xerox chose Atlantic Canada to be the North American hub for their TeleWeb applications. Nova Scotia’s competitive business climate, high tech infrastructure and strategic location are a tough combination to beat. The Xerox TeleWeb is a model for the future. It combines the use of the Internet with advanced telecommunications skills to provide the highest possible quality of customer service. This centre is a focal point for our company’s new and emerging market strategies.

The GreenCentre Canada (GCC) Innovation Park is located at Queen․s University in Kingston. The GCC is able to carry on research and development work in its 10,000 square foot facility which houses analytical equipment, inert atmosphere glove boxes, and wet labs with solvent-handling systems. However, GCC was limited by the scale of its facility until this partnership with the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC).

The XRCC boasts both the full resources of the Xerox engineering facility and a chemical pilot plant of 27,000 square feet in Mississauga, Ontario. These resources will be at the immediate disposal of the GCC, which will enable the Centre․s previously scoped “scaled and de-risked green technology options” to move into the pilot stage.
This partnership is part of Xerox․s ongoing support of green technology in Canada. According to the imaging company․s information, the average North American employee generates about two pounds of paper every day, almost 3.7 million tons of copy paper gets consumed every year in North America, and despite the ready availability of scanning and paperless storage solutions experts estimate that about 95% of information is still stored on paper.
Xerox has recently released a print management and analytics package that tracks printing behaviors in the workplace. This is intended to help companies manage expenses more effectively, not to mention make greener workplaces a reality.
